The Indian Premier League (IPL) has always been a great place for batsmen to show off their ability to hit sixes. Throughout the years, this league has seen some of the longest sixes ever recorded in IPL history. While hitting sixes is often thought to be the domain of power-hitters and well-built players, that’s not always true. Batsmen with excellent timing and less effort have also been able to smash some of the longest sixes in IPL.

1. Albie Morkel (CSK) – 125 meter
Albie Morkel’s 125-meter six in the inaugural IPL season (2008) is still regarded as one of the most memorable hits in the league’s history. Playing for the Chennai Super Kings, the South African all-rounder demonstrated why he was known for his powerful hitting. In that same season, he delivered an impressive 71 runs off just 40 balls against the Rajasthan Royals. He showcase his ability to turn games around with both bat and ball. Even now over 15 years later, his record six remains a testament to sheer power in the IPL.
2. Praveen Kumar (KXIP) – 124 meter
Praveen Kumar famous for his swing bowling but surprised everyone in IPL 2013 when he hit a huge 124-meter six for Kings XI Punjab. What made it even more remarkable was that it was against Lasith Malinga, one of the hardest bowlers to score against. That shot still holds the record for the second-longest six in IPL history, just one meter shy of Albie Morkel’s record. For a player who is more recognized for his bowling than his batting, this moment is one of the most unexpected and unforgettable in the league.
3. Adam Gilchrist (KXIP) – 122 meter
Adam Gilchrist was well-known for his powerful batting. In IPL 2011, he showcased his strength once again with a massive 122-meter six for Kings XI Punjab against Royal Challengers Bangalore in Dharamsala. The Aussie star hit it cleanly and far by demonstrating why he was considered one of the most intimidating openers in world cricket. That shot still holds the record as the third-longest six in IPL history. Even later in his career, Gilly could still dazzle the league with his sheer strength and timing.
4. Robin Uthappa (RCB) – 120 meter
In IPL 2010, Robin Uthappa displayed his incredible hitting skills when he hit a massive 120-meter six for the Royal Challengers Bangalore. The ball soared over long-on and making it the biggest six of that season. Uthappa recognized for his timing and strength by demonstrated why he was considered one of India’s most talented stroke-makers. That hit remains one of the top five longest sixes in IPL history.
5. Chris Gayle (RCB) – 119 meter
Chris Gayle proved he’s the master of hitting sixes in IPL 2013 when he launched a 119-meter six for Royal Challengers Bangalore. This happened during his record-setting innings of 175 runs off just 66 balls against Pune Warriors India at the Chinnaswamy Stadium. In that match, Gayle smashed 17 sixes and 13 fours with a strike rate exceeding 265 utterly obliterating the bowling lineup.

In the most recent IPL edition, Ravindra Jadeja launched the longest six of IPL 2025. The all-rounder from Chennai Super Kings amazed fans with a gigantic 109-meter shot. He provw that even after many years in the league, he can still effortlessly clear any boundary. He surpassed some of the season’s top hitters to take the lead for the year. In previous seasons, MS Dhoni had a 110m six in 2024, Faf du Plessis struck a 115m shot in 2023, Liam Livingstone hit a 117m giant in 2022, and Ruturaj Gaikwad surprised everyone with a 108m six in 2021. Back in 2020, it was Nicholas Pooran from Punjab Kings who topped the list with a 106m hit.
